Methodology

Frontier Flux is independent, capability-first coverage of frontier AI: models, benchmarks, papers, chips, and attributed lab statements. The free homepage is the full public feed. Paid products, if any, buy time advantage and synthesis, not a different set of facts.

What we are

  • Research-style wire for frontier capability: what a model scores, ships, or measures across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Meta, NVIDIA, Microsoft, xAI, Mistral, and closely related research.
  • Source-forward: wire cards summarize and link out; multi-source clusters show how many outlets cover the same story. Frontier Flux originals host a full story on-site and still link the primary post or outlet.
  • Independent and not affiliated with key AI figures, those companies, or X.

What we are not

  • Not an official channel or investor-relations proxy.
  • Not a company-drama beat. Firm and person soap opera is secondary to the artifact (model, paper, benchmark, release).
  • Not a raw social firehose. X already wins at volume; we win on structure and restraint. From X is a receipts rail, not the lead.
  • Not a place for invented quotes, synthetic “X said” lines, crash clickbait, or unattributed hype cycles.

How stories are selected

  1. Ingest - public RSS and reputable reporting first; scraping only when needed and never as the product.
  2. Curate - drop SEO spam, pure price tape, listicle clickbait, and thin rewrites that add no evidence.
  3. Corroborate - prefer primary lab sources or two independent press sources before a story leads the homepage.
  4. Humanize - rewrite titles and blurbs capability-first (artifact before drama); keep claims grounded in the linked source.
  5. Publish - bake JSON into a static site and ship. The homepage is the source of truth visitors see.

From X rail rules

  • From X cards require a primary or strongly attributed source URL and a date. Prefer status URLs so official X embeds can load.
  • Daily watchlist (for now): lab leaders, researchers, and a few news aggregators listed in pipeline/config/ai_figures.yaml. High-signal posts can also seed Frontier Flux Originals.
  • Prefer primary posts and first-party interviews over second-hand paraphrase.
  • Context is optional but encouraged when a line is easy to misread alone.
  • Status posts are shown as official X embeds (X's widget loads the live card). If an embed is unavailable, we fall back to the stored quote and source link.
  • We never invent quotes — not for volume, not for engagement, not “in the style of.” Placeholders on the rail are labeled until real posts publish.

How we pick videos

  • Videos is a third product surface, not a YouTube search page: curated picks only, company-scoped, with a short note on every card.
  • Prefer official company channels and a short allowlist of high-signal independents or launch streams. Drama, politics, and reaction spam stay off the list.
  • Hard cap roughly 30–40 picks; favor the last 30 days. Evergreen pieces only when context clearly needs them.
  • Cards use official YouTube Share → Embed iframes so playback stays on YouTube. We do not autoplay, rehost, or re-encode video. Channel directory is editorial config, not scraped popularity.
  • Source of truth: content/videos.json and content/channels.json, baked at build time like the rest of the site.

Corrections & independence

If a card is wrong, we fix the JSON and republish. Sponsors — if introduced later — will never write the statement rail or blur into site copy. Trust is the product.
