Google ships Gemini 3.8 Flash at 3.7 prices; Flash Cyber stays Fairwind-only

Google launched two Gemini 3.8 variants on 2 September 2026: Gemini 3.8 Flash as a generally available workhorse, and Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber for trusted defenders. Google says both share the same foundational intelligence, with Flash Cyber shipping a more permissive cyber-mitigation set. Flash keeps the 3.7 Flash introductory price of $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens through 31 December 2026.

The Google launch post (Tulsee Doshi and Raluca Ada Popa) frames 3.8 Flash as the third Flash drop in six weeks after 3.7 Flash. Google says 3.8 Flash is live for developers in Google AI Studio and the Gemini API, as the default agent in Antigravity, in Gemini Enterprise, and for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app, AI Mode in Search, and Gemini in Sheets. Developer docs list the stable id `gemini-3.8-flash` with a 1,048,576-token input window and 65,536 max output tokens. Google says 3.7 Flash remains fully supported for efficiency-first workloads. Introductory pricing expires on 31 December 2026; from 1 January 2027 Google lists $1.50/$7.50 per million tokens.

Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber is routed through the Fairwind Program for governments, critical-infrastructure operators, and core software maintainers, paired with the CodeMender harness. Google DeepMind on X said Fairwind "helps governments and trusted partners stay ahead of threats" by giving access to 3.8 Flash Cyber.

Google-reported evals: 3.8 Flash at 54.9% on HLE-Verified. On CWE-Bench (Collinear), Google's Fairwind page lists Flash Cyber pass@1 at 47.2% versus Fable 5 at 47.8%.
